Has Evolution Been Proven to be True?
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
Has evolution been proven to be true? Please be reminded that evolution is a theory. It has never been proven. In fact, over and over again, things come up in research that cannot be answered by evolution or that refute it. Just one of many examples, how can bees know to make the precise hexagons in their hives? Is that a random accident of nature, or did a loving Creator give them that knowledge? Evolutionists puzzle over a problem such as this, and thankfully some realize the truth of God’s Word.
It is also helpful to remember that evolution refers to change. An evolutionist sees non-living material changing into living material over millions, or even billions of years. It is his view that the natural world can create new and more complex creatures by itself.
Do things change? Of course, but they always change within their kind. This is known as micro-evolution. It is macro-evolution, change of one kind to another [a bird into a dinosaur] that is not in the Bible and has not been found to be provable.
The most common evolutionary explanation for the beginning of the world is known as the ‘Big Bang.’ The difference between what the Bible teaches and the Big Bang is simply this: the Bible teaches that “in the beginning God created,” and evolution teaches that “in the beginning nothing became something and exploded.”
The fossil record is supposed to prove the transition of one life form to another. Yet, it doesn’t do this. There are many variations within kinds, such as different varieties of elephant or dinosaur, but no examples of in-between kinds. That elusive ‘missing link’ has yet to be found. Darwin proposed that over millions of years, the gradual changes would produce an enormous number of links. To date, zero have been found. The various supposed missing links between ape and man have all been found to be one of three things: an extinct ape, a living ape, or a human.
Plants and animals produce after their own kind. This has been seen since time began. It can’t be overemphasized that there have been no examples found of one kind of plant or animal changing into another kind. Natural selection in the wild, and artificial selection done by breeders produce an enormous variety within the different kinds of plants and animals. It is said that there are some 340 breeds of dogs throughout the world. As these interbreed, this produces thousands of different types of dogs. But they are all still dogs.
The great example of change that Darwin noted when he visited the Galapagos Islands was the variety of finches. But, did one species develop into another species? No; finches changed but they were still finches.
A belief in evolution doesn’t leave much room for a Creator with whom we have to do. If there is no Creator, than there are no rules or commandments, and thus no responsibility for our actions. We can then live our lives however we please with no eternal consequence.
However, the heart of man knows that there is a time of judgment coming. How much better to believe what the Bible says, “In the Beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Most, if not all things, can be explained by the fact that a loving Creator made this world for His purpose and glory. He sent His Son to die in our place and take our judgment upon Himself. One glad day, He will make all things new.
